Have you ever had trouble applying fine detail your work?  Ever wish you could just move the tape around at will, rather than having to resort to a peel and re-stick method?

Try this:

Get a small spray bottle and fill with water.  Next add a small amount of liquid dish soap (about 1 tsp/ liter).  Mix.  Spray this lightly on the surface you are going to apply your tape to (often, another layer of tape).  You will now be able to slide the tape around smoothly and freely, positioning it any way you like.  Once you have your piece in place, just leave it to dry.  Once it dries, you will find the tape stuck firmly in place.

This technique is used widely in the application of vinyl signs (lettering, etc), but is equally applicable to duct tape.  Though it seems counterintuitive to apply duct tape to a wet surface, it actually works quite well and can save you a lot of time and frustration.

Cheers!

I used this technique but it took a long time to dry for my project so I misted water from a spray bottle.  This helped to prevent sticking allowing me to lift up the tape quickly to fix mistakes.  You can't slide the tape around but it dries in a few minutes.
